Frequently Asked Questions

Questions about staffing your event or facility?

Straight answers about how OpalOps works — coverage area, compliance, and what each service line actually includes.

General

OpalOps staff are W-2 employees, not 1099 contractors or gig workers. That means payroll taxes, workers' compensation, and insurance are handled on our end — clients aren't exposed to misclassification risk the way they can be with app-based gig staffing platforms.

OpalOps offers same-day quotes and can typically confirm crew within 24 hours of a request. For urgent or short-notice bookings, a short-notice premium may apply, but staffing is rarely a scheduling blocker.

Yes. OpalOps is based in Woodside, Queens, and serves the greater NYC and NJ metro area for event, warehouse, and general labor staffing.

OpalOps is based in the NYC/NJ metro area and that's where the bulk of our work happens, but we can travel nationally for the right project with enough lead time. If a client needs crew outside our home region, we plan logistics, travel, and staffing well in advance rather than treating it as a same-day request.

Yes. OpalOps carries active workers' compensation coverage and is fully bonded and insured across all job types and operations.

Event & Production Crews

OpalOps supplies trained crews for load-in, load-out, and booth build-out — including install & dismantle (I&D), staging, and floor graphics — for trade shows, conferences, and activations across NYC and NJ.

Event & Production Crews are specifically trained for event build-out tasks like booth setup, staging, and I&D, timed around load-in and load-out windows. General Labor is a broader, flexible option for jobs that don't fit neatly into a specific category.

Warehouse & Logistics Labor

OpalOps provides ongoing facility labor for pick-and-pack, receiving, and inventory handling — staffed by the day, week, or on a recurring basis rather than tied to a single event date.

General Labor & Support Teams

General Labor is OpalOps' flexible, catch-all staffing category for jobs outside event production or warehouse work — move teams, site cleanup, and miscellaneous event-day support — with same-day scheduling and flexible crew sizes.

Registration & Check-In

Yes — Registration & Check-In is OpalOps' one guest-facing service, covering entry management, credential and badge verification, and on-site badge printing.

Event Chef Support & Catering Transport

OpalOps provides chef assistants and kitchen prep support for catered events, plus drivers for transporting catering equipment and product — all behind-the-scenes kitchen and logistics support, not front-of-house waitstaff.

Yes. Background checks are mandatory for OpalOps' Event Chef Support and other food-adjacent roles.

Promo Staffing

Yes. OpalOps' Promo Staffing service covers both presence-based roles like street teams and handouts, and scripted product demo/sampling roles with lead capture.

Yes. Similar to our Embedded Crew program, OpalOps can source T-shirts and other branded materials for Promo Staffing engagements, at roughly the same cost as sourcing them separately — so clients can outfit their promo team without managing a separate vendor.

Event IT Infrastructure Support

OpalOps provides on-site labor for event technology setup, including network and AV cable running, check-in booth assembly, and general install/breakdown of event-tech infrastructure.

Embedded Crew

Yes — OpalOps' Embedded Crew program supplies trained crews that work under an agency or exhibit house's own banner, with no OpalOps branding on the floor.
